Philodendron Painted Lady is a stunning and sought-after houseplant known for its unique variegated foliage. The leaves are neon green with light pink edge.
Light
Prefers bright, indirect light to maintain its vibrant variegation. Avoid direct sunlight, which can bleach the leaves. Low light can reduce the pink coloration.
Water
Water when the top 1-2 inches of soil feel dry. Keep the soil evenly moist but not soggy. Ensure the pot has drainage holes to prevent root rot.
Humidity
Thrives in moderate to high humidity levels (60-80%). Use a humidifier, pebble tray, or mist the plant regularly to increase humidity.
Temperature
Ideal temperature range: 18-27°C. Protect from cold drafts and sudden temperature changes.
Soil
Use a well-draining, aroid or houseplant potting mix. Adding perlite or orchid bark can improve drainage and aeration.
Fertilisation
Feed with a balanced, water-soluble fertiliser every 4-6 weeks during the growing season (spring and summer). Reduce feeding in fall and winter.
Repotting
Repot every 1-2 years or when the plant outgrows its pot. Choose a pot that is one size larger and has drainage holes.
Pruning
Prune to remove any leggy growth or to shape the plant. Trim any completely green leaves to encourage more pink variegation.
Pests
Watch for common pests like spider mites, aphids, and mealybugs. Treat with insecticidal soap or neem oil if needed.
Propagation
Best propagated through stem cuttings. Take a cutting with at least one node and a few leaves, then root it in water or moist soil.
