Mammillaria cacti are delightful additions to any cactus collection. Their charming appearance, ease of care, and occasional blooms make them popular choices for both novice and experienced cactus enthusiasts. Mammillaria species produce charming flowers in various colours, typically blooming from spring to summer. With proper care and attention to their specific needs, Mammillaria cacti can thrive and bring joy for many years to come.

We have a variety of different variants of Mammillaria available. They are listed below.

Where do I come from?

I am native to the Americas.

Light

Mammillaria cacti thrive in bright, indirect sunlight. Place them near a sunny window indoors or in a location with partial shade outdoors.

Soil

Plant Mammillaria in well-draining cactus potting mix. You can also mix regular potting soil with sand or perlite to improve drainage.

Watering

Water your Mammillaria sparingly, allowing the soil to dry out between waterings. In the growing season (spring and summer), water more frequently, but reduce watering in the dormant season (autumn and winter).

Temperature

These cacti prefer warm temperatures and should be kept above 10°C. Protect them from frost, as exposure to freezing temperatures can damage or kill the plant.

Fertilising

Feed with a diluted cactus fertiliser once a month during the growing season. Avoid fertilising during the dormant period.

Repotting

Repot Mammillaria every 2-3 years or when the plant outgrows its container. Spring is the best time for repotting.

Pruning

Pruning is generally not necessary for Mammillaria cacti. However, you can remove any dead or damaged parts with sterilised pruning shears to maintain plant health and appearance.

Pests and Diseases

Watch for common cactus pests such as scale insects and spider mites. Treat any infestations promptly with insecticidal soap or neem oil. Avoid over-watering to prevent root rot and fungal diseases.

Am I Pet Friendly?

Unfortunately I am not pet friendly.

What size am I?

I am in a 8cm pot.
