The Microsorum musifolium ‘Crocodyllus’, commonly known as the Crocodile Fern, is an eye-catching tropical fern known for its unique, textured fronds that resemble reptile skin. Its glossy, leathery leaves feature a distinctive scale-like pattern. This fern thrives in warm, humid environments, making it a great choice for terrariums or bathrooms where humidity is higher.

Where do I come from?

I am native to Southeast Asia and parts of Australia.

Light

Prefers bright, indirect light but can tolerate medium light.

Avoid direct sunlight, which can burn the delicate fronds.

    Water

They need to be watered regularly and don’t like to dry out between waterings, so keep soil consistently moist but not waterlogged.

    Humidity

They love humidity so place it in a watered pebbled tray or place containers of water around your plants which can increase the moisture in the air. It will also benefit from regular misting.

They are an ideal plant for bathrooms or terrariums, where humidity remains high.

    Temperature

The ideal temperature range is 16-24°C

Protect from temperatures below 10°C and cold drafts.

Keep away from air conditioners or heaters, which can dry out the fronds.

    Soil

Use a well-draining, rich potting mix suitable for ferns.

    Fertilization

Feed with a diluted, balanced liquid fertilizer every 4-6 weeks during the growing season (spring and summer).

Avoid fertilizing in fall and winter when the plant’s growth slows down.

    Repotting

Repot every 1-2 years or when it becomes root-bound, ideally in spring.

    Am I pet friendly?

For any pet parents out there - this houseplant is non-toxic.

    What size am I?

    I come in a 12cm pot.
